Whether your child has a formal diagnosis, is experiencing developmental concerns, or is simply struggling with behaviors that are impacting daily life, our goal is to provide parents with practical, evidence-based strategies that create meaningful progress at home and in the community.

Over the past 10 years, I have worked with individuals across the lifespan—from toddlers developing early communication skills to adolescents and adults building independence, social, and daily living skills. Because every child and family is unique, coaching is individualized to meet your child's developmental level, strengths, and your family's specific goals.

What skills can be worked on in parent coaching?

Parent coaching is individualized to your child’s needs, your family’s routines, and the challenges you’re experiencing at home. During coaching, parents learn practical, evidence-based strategies they can use in everyday life to support their child’s development and reduce stress in the home.

Areas we can work on may include:

• Communication skills such as requesting wants and needs, increasing functional communication, and reducing frustration related to communication difficulties
• Challenging behaviors such as tantrums, aggression, noncompliance, elopement, whining, throwing, or other behaviors that may be interfering with daily life
• Potty training support using individualized behavioral strategies
• Daily living and independence skills such as dressing, brushing teeth, mealtime routines, cleaning up, following routines, and completing basic self-care tasks
• Play and social skills including turn-taking, imitation, engagement, and learning how to build interaction through play
• Transitions and routines such as bedtime, getting ready in the morning, leaving preferred activities, and moving through daily routines with less stress
• Following directions and cooperation to help make daily tasks and family routines feel more manageable
• Parent confidence and strategy implementation so you feel more prepared to respond consistently and effectively in the moments that matter most

Every family is different, which is why coaching is tailored to your child, your goals, and the situations you are navigating at home. The goal is not to hand you generic advice, but to give you practical tools, guidance, and support you can actually use in real life.

Why choose parent coaching over traditional ABA?

Traditional ABA can be incredibly helpful for many families, but it is not always the best fit for every child or every household. Parent coaching offers a different approach by putting the parent at the center of the process and helping families build skills in the environment where challenges are actually happening every day.

Why families may choose parent coaching:

1. You don’t have to wait months for support
Many families spend months sitting on waitlists for services. Parent coaching allows you to start getting guidance and support now, rather than feeling stuck waiting for help.

2. You learn how to help your child in real-life moments
Your child’s hardest moments often happen outside of therapy sessions—during meals, bedtime, transitions, playtime, community outings, or communication breakdowns at home. Parent coaching helps you learn how to respond in those moments with strategies that are practical, individualized, and effective.

3. You are with your child more than anyone else
A therapist may only be with your child for a limited number of hours each week, but you are there during the everyday moments that matter most. When parents are taught how to use effective strategies consistently across the day, progress can become more meaningful, natural, and easier to maintain.

4. Strategies are integrated into your family’s daily life
Rather than focusing only on therapy sessions, parent coaching helps embed skill-building into the routines you are already doing—meals, bath time, bedtime, getting dressed, playing, outings, and everyday communication opportunities.

5. It can feel less overwhelming than bringing another provider into your home
Some families prefer a model that gives them support and guidance without adding another person into their home multiple days a week. Parent coaching can offer a more flexible and collaborative option while still providing professional support from a BCBA.

6. You receive individualized guidance, not just general advice
Parent coaching is not about handing you a few tips and hoping for the best. It is a collaborative process where we look at your child’s needs, your family’s goals, and the challenges you are facing, then build a plan together with strategies you can confidently use.

At Guided Growth Training, the goal of parent coaching is to empower you with the knowledge, tools, and support to help your child thrive in everyday life. Instead of waiting for change to happen only during therapy sessions, parent coaching helps create progress in the moments that matter most—at home, in the community, and within your family’s daily routines.
